For primary teachers, learning about Earth Day presents a valuable opportunity to engage young minds in understanding and appreciating the world around them. Here are some of my students' favorite read aloud stories about Earth Day.

The Lorax by Dr. Seuss
This is the first book I think of when I think of Earth Day stories. It's a timeless classic that introduces children to the concept of environmentalism and the importance of preserving nature. The format and characters are both cute and intriguing!
Earth Day Read Aloud #2
The Great Kapok Tree by Lynne Cherry:
This beautifully illustrated book tells the story of a man who falls asleep while contemplating cutting down a tree and is visited by animals who depend on it for survival. This book is a work of art, and keeps students completely captivated waiting to see if the man will wake and see all the animals crowding around him as he sleeps.
