5 Most Engaging ONLINE Read-Aloud Stories for Primary Teachers

Writer: Peaceful PrimaryPeaceful Primary

As primary teachers, one of the most delightful moments in a classroom is when you gather your students around for a read-aloud. The magic of storytelling not only captivates young minds but also fosters a love for reading that can last a lifetime. Here is my classroom list of super popular stories in our library.

1. Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak

Maurice Sendak's classic read aloud is a perfect blend of adventure and imagination, making it a favorite! Let your students journey with Max as he discovers the power of imagination and the importance of home. This one has been around for years but still resonates with my students!

2. The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle

The famous hungry caterpillar on his gastronomic adventure through various foods! My students love the predictable nature of this book, and it also reinforces the days of the week! Bonus!

3. A Bad Case of Stripes by David Shannon

Camilla Cream is a girl who develops a peculiar case of stripes due to peer pressure. This story encourages students to embrace their individuality and celebrates the importance of being true to oneself. It's also a great way to introduce the concepts of peer pressure with the class in a safe and entertaining way.

4. The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt

In this cute story, Duncan has a dilemma when his crayons decide to go on strike. For my students, it's Oliver Jeffers' sweet illustrations that really bring this tale to life, showcasing the unique personalities of each crayon.

5. Iggy Peck, Architect by Andrea Beaty

Iggy Peck is a young boy with a passion for building amazing structures out of unexpected materials. The rhyming text and cute illustrations will hopefully inspire our students to dream big and embrace their creative talents. This one is perfect if you do a lot of STEM lessons in your classroom.

Tuck this posts away for when you need some popular read-aloud stories found online! You can watch and enjoy along with your students! Please note - since they are not my own videos, I can't say if they will always be available. All were available at the time of writing this post. Enjoy!
