For me, Christmas is the season to cozy up with a cup of hot cocoa and immerse our little learners in the magic of Christmas! As primary teachers, we know the power of read-alouds in fostering a love for literature and igniting imaginations. With the holiday spirit in full swing, it's the perfect time to introduce our students to some timeless tales that capture the joy, wonder, and warmth of Christmas. Here are some beloved read-aloud stories that are sure to become holiday favorites in my classroom:
CHRISTMAS READ ALOUD #1
"The Polar Express" by Chris Van Allsburg: Last year we dedicated a whole day to celebrating this story! We wore jammies, had treats and watched the movie! This classic tale takes readers on a magical journey to the North Pole aboard the Polar Express. Filled with unique illustrations and a heartwarming message about the power of believing, this book is a must-read during the holiday season.

CHRISTMAS READ ALOUD #2
"How the Grinch Stole Christmas!" by Dr. Seuss: I had to include this one. It's and old one but no list of mine is complete without it! The Grinch is the guy we love to watch being so mean, but his heart grows at the end as he learns the true meaning of Christmas! The cartoon is a classic, and we watch the movie as well. It's a timeless message of love and generosity, and so many giggles throughout.

CHRISTMAS READ ALOUD #3
"The Snowman" by Raymond Briggs: This special picture book has no words, but it doesn't need any to be engaging! A young boy builds a snowman that comes to life and takes him on a magical adventure. With its beautiful illustrations and evocative storytelling, "The Snowman" is a captivating read-aloud that will spark the imagination of children of all ages. This one is perfect for to inspire writing projects!

I hope you get a chance to try these wonderful stories with your students if you haven't already!
