Valentine's Day is a time for spreading love and kindness, and what better way to celebrate than with enchanting stories that warm the heart? As primary teachers, we have the wonderful opportunity to share these tales with our students, inspiring them to appreciate the power of love and friendship. Here are some ideas for Valentine's Day read alouds that I share with my students every year.
Valentine's Day Read Aloud #1
"Love, Splat" by Rob Scotton
I am particularly fond of the Splat series because I have a black cat of my own! In this read aloud, Splat the Cat has another humorous adventure as he tries to impress his secret crush, Kitten, in this adorable Valentine's Day tale.

Valentine's Day Read Aloud #2
"Somebody Loves You, Mr. Hatch" by Eileen Spinelli
I must admit that out of all the Valentine's Day stories, this one might be my favorite. The transformative power of friendship and kindness is explored as Mr. Hatch receives a mysterious package and learns that he is cherished by those around him. It's a truly lovely story to share and talk about afterwards.

Valentine's Day Read Aloud #3
"Froggy's First Kiss" by Jonathan London
There's something so silly and fun about the Froggy read alouds! This one is about Froggy on his usual hilarious misadventures as he nervously prepares for his first Valentine's Day dance and his first kiss.

Were any of your favorite read alouds in this list? I have so many favorites that I will definitely have to make another list!
